Can the minister of Road confirm or deny if he is aware that the selected board members have engaged in corruption whereby a contractor namely RPA (former Fiji First donor) allegedly has a reputation for not fulfilling its contractual obligations in relation to non payment and standards, it was not selected as it did not meet the technical standard assessment to be considered for the procurement of Fiji’s road. Other suitable contractors was selected and recommendations was made to the board. However the board came back and added RPA and directed that they be given the contract for Roads in Taveuni, Savusavu and Labasa despite not meeting the requirements. It is further alleged that a decision will be announced selecting RPA as the preferred contractor.
The boards is not authorised to make recommendations, but merely endorsed recommendations based on technical and specialist assessment. So is it true corruption is strife under this government?
